On January 30th we had another snowfall, this one with a depth of 10 inches. It was very pretty to look at but not so nice to navigate. At least we only had two horses to worry about feeding and not big herds of cows like most of our neighbors. And we had to keep the bird feeder filled for the likes of this little thing that looks absolutely frozen.
The cardinals are about the only bird I can recognize and we have plenty of them. They show up so well in the snow and offer good photo ops. They all feed as much off the spillage on the ground as from the feeder. When the snow finally stopped, we bundled up and trekked out into the pasture with the dogs to check on the horses, who had never bothered to come up to the barn for two days. That's me in our Ranger ATV in case you can't tell. I had on all my ski clothes, plus goggles because it was so bright with the sun shining on the snow.
Snow on a flower pot to show the depth.
